WHO BUILDS AND SAILS OUR KITS?
Young and old, beginner and expert alike find our kits rewarding, entertaining and fun! Though recommended for ages 10 and up (due to the content of small parts) many adults have taken advantage of the unique opportunity to share the experience of building and sailing our wooden pond models with a younger child.
HOW LONG DO THEY TAKE TO BUILD?
Assembly times are measured in minutes to a few hours depending on the particular kit and builder's skill level. Our kits often take longer to paint than to assemble.
WHERE CAN THEY BE SAILED?
In any body of water deep enough for them to float. Swimming pools, ponds or at the beach. Follow the wise skipper's rule, "keep an eye on the weather, avoid strong currents, high winds and rough seas."
HOW LONG WILL THEY SAIL?
As long as there is a breeze our sail boats will sail. All of our rubber band powered fleet easily achieve 1.5 to 2-minute running times. Depending on the size of the rubber strip and winding technique some can run 4 minutes and longer.
ARE THEY DIFFICULT TO SAIL?
No! Being free sailers our boats are designed to sail themselves. With simple adjustments to rudder and sails they can perform basic maneuvers and sail a variety of courses. Should more control and the ability to retrieve your model without a chase be desired, simply secure a light fishing line.
